The inaugural annual awards created four main prizes -- Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Digital Album of the Year and Best-selling Artist of the Year -- and BTS won two, Artist of the Year and Digital Album of the Year for “Love Yourself: Answer.” They also collected seven more awards, including Best Group, Best Male Dance Performance, Genie Mu- sic Popularity Award, Best Music Vid- eo and Best Style. During the ceremony, BTS performed “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and “Fake Love” with American singer-songwrit- er Charlie Puth. The group’s producer Bang Si-hyuk and choreographer Son Sung-deuk went home with Best Producer and Best Choreographer. “We thank ARMY who gave this prize. We always wanted to have a good influence on many people via our music. It was an honor to be able to deliver our message to the world with this album,” member Suga said after receiving the best digital album award. ARMY refers to the group’s fan base. The remaining two main prizes went to massively popular rookie group Wanna One and girl group TWICE. Wanna One won Best Song of the Year for its hit song “Beautiful” and TWICE Best-selling Artist of the Year. The boy band was also given Best Male Vocal Performance for “Beauti- ful” and the MBC Plus Star Award. TWICE also won Best Female Group and Best Global Performance. Meanwhile, BTS ranked 61st on the Billboard 200 main albums chart for “Love Yourself: Answer,” down from the previous week’s 50th, according to the latest chart released Tuesday. The group has stayed on the chart for the 10th straight week since it debuted atop the list in September. BTS scoops up nine trophies at 2018 MGA K-pop girl group LOONA wins Best Korean Act from MTV EMAs (Yonhap) -- K-pop rookie girl group LOONA has won the Best Korean Act from the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) 2018, its agency Blockberry Creative said Monday. The award category started in 2013, and its previous winners, determined by votes cast by global K-pop fans, were EXO, BTS, B.A.P and GFRIEND. The 12-member act had worked in subunits before making its debut in its entirety in August when it released the album “+ +.” The album sold 50,000 copies. (Yonhap) (Yonhap) -- Actor Park Shin-yang and actress Go Hyun-jung have been cast for the second season of the popu- lar television series, “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo,” the drama’s public relations agency said Monday. Y Tree Company said the two veteran actors will face off in the legal comedy series, based on the webtoon, or web- based comic, of the same name, which is scheduled to broadcast in January on KBS 2TV. The first season aired from March 28 toMay 31, 2016, with its fina- le recording a 17.3 percent viewership rating, according to Nielsen Korea. Park again will play lawyer Jo Deul- ho, who stands up for the weak and fights against injustice, while Go will perform the role of Lee Ja-kyung, a cold-blooded, cruel executive who goes to any length to achieve what she wants. The series is the first for Go since her controversial drop-out from SBS TV’s “Return” earlier this year amid rumors she had fought with the drama’s pro- ducer.
